Mariana Calderon

Dr Calderon Vidal received her medical degree from Universidad La Salle, Mexico City and anesthesia degree and diploma in pain management from the Uiniversidad Nacional Autónoma de Mexico

Dr Calderon is an anesthesiologist and pain physicians in private practice at Hospital Medica Sur, Mexico City

Dr Calderon clinical and academic interests are in NMBDs, acute pain management, Palliative Care, Geriatric Anesthesia and Perioperative medicine

She is an Assistant professor of Anesthesia conducting several projects for enhancing acute pain management and involved in teaching new generations of clinicians

Dr Calderon furthered her education at Harvard Medical School in palliative care medicine and at Liverpool University in International management of health systems

In addition to her responsibilities in private practice she is also work in anesthesia in altruistic surgery programs in poor states of Mexico

She is an author and co-author of national and international publications in the field of anesthesia, acute pain and palliative care

Hans De Boer

Hans D de Boer studied medicine at the University of Groningen and underwent specialist training at the Radboud University Medical Centre Nijmegen, both in the Netherlands. He is currently senior consultant anesthesiologist at the Martini General Hospital Groningen. He has special interest in neuromuscular management (thesis on sugammadex), obstetric anesthesia, procedural sedation, perioperative management and patient safety, innovations in anesthesiology and healthcare in general and legal issues in perioperative patient care as member of the Dutch Board of Medical Licensure & Discipline.

Furthermore, he is active in the ERAS® Society as treasurer and Chairman of the Dutch ERAS® Society, implementing evidence based medicine in colorectal surgery, urologic and gynaecologic surgery and implementing opioid free/opioid sparing anesthesia techniques programs.

In 1997, Dr. De Boer started his training in anesthesiology and pain medicine at the Institute for Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine at the Radboud University Medical Centre Nijmegen (Department Chair: Prof. Dr. LHDJ Booij). After his registration as anesthesiologist, he accepted an appointment as a staff member and research scientist at the Radboud University Medical Centre and is currently working at the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine at the Martini General Hospital Groningen. During his specialist training, Dr. de Boer began conducting research on sugammadex at the Experimental Laboratories of Anesthesiology at the same institution in 1998. After finishing his thesis on sugammadex (award winning: best national thesis prize 2009) in 2008 his involvement in the development program of sugammadex continued and resulted in over 40 publications and more than 200 international lectures on this subject. He is furthermore scientifically interested in neuromuscular management, perioperative management and patient safety, innovations in anesthesiology and legal issues in perioperative patient care. Furthermore, he is active in the ERAS® Society as Board Member and Treasurer and Chairman of the Dutch ERAS® Society, implementing evidence based medicine in colorectal surgery, urologic and gynaecologic surgery and implementing opioid free/opioid sparing anesthesia techniques programs. Dr de Boer has special interest in obstetric anesthesia in which he is one of the founders of the skin-to-skin caesarean section globally. In all these fields he is involved in educational and scientific programs.

Dr. de Boer is a member of the Dutch Society of Anesthesiology, the Dutch Society of Pain Medicine, the American Society of Anesthesiologist, the International Anesthesia Research Society, the European Society of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care (member research committee and scientific S-I committee), European Society for Peri Operative Care of the Obese Patient, the ERAS® Society and the Dutch ERAS® Society. He is the author of several journal publications, abstracts, book chapters, reviews and is a guest reviewer of the major international anesthesia journals and is a member of the Dutch Board of Medical Licensure & Discipline.

Furthermore, Dr. de Boer is involved in local, national and international committees regarding patient’s safety and innovations in anesthesia and healthcare.

Vincent Degos MD,PhD

Vincent Degos MD, PhD, received his Medical Degree from Sorbonne University, UPMC, Paris France (2002), Master Degree in Neurosciences, Sorbonne University, UPMC in (2006), Specialty in Anesthesia and ICU, Sorbonne University, UPMC in (2010) PhD in Neurobiology, University Paris Descartes, Paris, France (2010) and Research Habilitation Neurosciences, Sorbonne University, UPMC, Paris (2015)

Professor Degos is a professor of anesthesia and ICU and head of the Head and Neck Anesthesia and Neuro-ICU, Pitie Salpetrère Hospital, APHP-Sorbonne University, Paris

In the past he held several academic positions with increasing importance (2010-2012) Associate Researcher at UCSF (San Francisco) (2012-2015) Sorbonne Université, UPMC Associate Professor (2012-) and Full Professor (2015-2017)

Professor Degos’ research interests are in Neurotrauma and neurovascular conditions (including injury, blood-brain barrier, stroke, neurorehabilitation) and Immunological mechanisms in disease (e.g. autoimmunity, allergy, transplantation immunology, tumour immunology). He is a recipient of several research grants and awards. In 2009-2010 received the Lauréat of the « poste d’accueil INSERM and in 2014 French National Medical Academy Award

Professor Degos is author and co-author of over 150 scientific publications with H index : 31 and i10 Index:69 and 3800 citations

In addition to his clinical and academic responsibilities he is involved in Health Care Risk management for for APHP-Sorbonne University and he is a Medical Legal Advisor for APHP, Paris

Thomas Fuchs-Buder, MD, PhD

Thomas Fuchs-Buder, MD, PhD, is a professor of anesthesia and critical care. at the university hospital Nancy. He is the director of the OR department and head of ambulatory anesthesia.

Dr. Fuchs-Buder studied medicine in Giessen, Germany, and Geneva, Switzerland, and earned his medical degree at the Justus-Liebig University in Giessen. He completed his doctoral thesis at the University of Geneva and continued his training in anesthesia and critical care at the Geneva University Hospital.

Dr. Fuchs-Buder is coeditor of the European Journal of Anaesthesiology, chair of the research committee of the European Society of Anaesthesia (ESA) and author of the chapter “Neuromuscular Monitoring” in Miller’s Anesthesia (9th edition).

His research interests include the pharmacology and physiology of neuromuscular transmission

Benoît Plaud, M.D., Ph.D.

Benoît Plaud, M.D., Ph.D. is currently professor and chair of anaesthesiology & intensive care medicine department at the University Hospital Paris-Diderot, Saint-Louis. He is the national academic director of the French Anaesthesiology & Intensive Care Medicine Residency Program.

Professor Plaud has been editor in chief of Anaesthesia Critical & Pain Medicine journal (the official scientific journal of the French society of Anesthesia and Critical Care Medicine) and board member of the Canadian Journal of Anesthesia journal.

He completed his medical course and residency in anaesthesiology and surgical intensive care at the University of Paris. Professor Plaud has been head of University Department of Anaesthesiology in Caen and in Paris at the Adolph de Rothschild Foundation (private hospital).

Besides clinical activities, management of operating room and teaching, he has been involved in research works on the pharmacology of neuromuscular blocking agents for more than 25 years. In this setting he was visiting professor at the University of Montreal in the department of Professor François Donati.

Bernhard Riedel

Professor Bernhard Riedel, MB.ChB, FCA, FANZCA, FAHA, FASE, MMed, MBA, PhD is the Director of the Department of Anaesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and a Professorial Fellow at the University of Melbourne.

Bernhard’s research interests have improved the understanding of perioperative factors that contribute to complications following major surgery—with strategies for enhanced risk stratification (including measuring functional capacity with cardiopulmonary exercise testing) and preoperative optimization (including prehabilitation with exercise therapy) to reduce complications after surgery.

Specific to the field of onco-anaesthesia, Bernhard’s research collaborative investigates the interaction of perioperative adrenergic-inflammatory response and anaesthetic technique on tumor-progression signalling on the potential long-term postoperative complication—cancer recurrence.

Jacob Rosenberg, MD, DSc

Jacob Rosenberg, MD, DSc, is a professor and chief surgeon at Herlev Hospital and University of Copenhagen in Denmark. He received his medical degree and doctor of science degree (DSc) from the University of Copenhagen.

Professor Rosenberg has authored or co-authored nearly 847 publications, including 766 scientific articles, 53 book chapters, and 28 textbooks, and has delivered several hundred scientific lectures internationally and within Denmark and has a current H-index of 71.. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, US.

Professor Rosenberg has been editor-in-chief for Ugeskrift for Læger and the Danish Medical Journal. He was also a member of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) for 7 years and is past president of The Royal Copenhagen Medical Society.

Scientifically he has for years worked in the crossroad between anesthesia and surgery and always with a focus on patient outcome.
